We love New Year's Eve as a time to review what we achieved in the last year and set goals and action steps for the next year. Vision and action are important leadership quality, after all.

We asked around NOLS headquarters to see what NOLSies are setting for their New Year's resolutions. Below are just a few of the goals that NOLSies are planning to pursue in 2016.

What are your goals going to be?

"My new year's resolution is to (try) to enjoy my day-to-day the same way I enjoy my vacations, expeditions, personal trips etc. I am aiming to be equally present as a human being in both those spheres. Of course it's important to separate work and regular life, but I want to be able to revel in the happiness each can bring, equally."

~Madelyn Wigle, senior marketing representative and gap year advisor, Alaska Backpacking '10

"My new year's resolution is to learn how to make flaky pastries that rival European pastries."

~Aleson Rietow, web content administrator and field instructor, River Instructor Course '15

"Work more on my long novel. Use my new mixer to bake lots of bread, bagels, and rolls. Read new books of varying subjects. Enjoy life (which is a short way of saying: have fun and do new things)!

~Holly Engelhart, admissions enrollment assistant, Rock and River '06

We can't wait to get started!
