Enjoying the outdoors is what it’s all about. We know that at NOLS. That is why NOLS, along with several other Wyoming entities, have collaborated to create WY Outside and the very first WY Outside Challenge.

What It's All About

WY Outside is a coalition of public and private organizations with a shared stake in promoting outdoor recreation to children and families in Wyoming. In light of supporting this crucial mission, the group has put together a yearlong challenge to get folks outside and participating in a variety of outdoor activities within our beautiful state.

The Challenge

First, visit the WY Outside website to print off your scorecard. On your scorecard, you'll find a list of outdoor activities that appeal to all ages and personalities, and each experience you have will earn you points—and help build your relationship with the outdoors. Participants may use the scorecard to track what they have accomplished throughout the year and earn points based on the activity. When you reach 200 points, send in your scorecard and photos for a chance to win fun prizes!

What You Get to Do

The categories on your scorecard are: Know Your Parks, Get Moving, Hunting and Fishing, Investigate, Outdoor Skills/Skills Development, and Create and Reflect. Activities in these categories include map reading, rock identification, hiking to a waterfall, camping in a park, and several other versatile activities. You can participate as an individual as well as a families sharing a single scorecard.

We WY Outside members hope this challenge will help you feel the urge to get outside. The more advocacy for environment, the better, and groups like WY Outside recognize and are actively pursuing getting people out there and appreciating it.

Be stewards of the environment and help spread the word! Download a scorecard, document your activities, and, once you have reached 200 points, send in your information. Oh, and have fun!
